A Room Full of Forward-Thinking Leaders

Top commercial heat treaters and supplier partners came together with a common purpose: to tackle the biggest forces shaping the industry. Conversations weren’t theoretical, they were practical, honest, and focused on execution.

Key topics driving discussion included:

  • Lean manufacturing strategies to eliminate waste and increase throughput
  • Artificial intelligence and how to move from curiosity to real-world application
  • Workplace culture in a multi-generational workforce
  • Robotics and wearable exoskeletons improving safety, productivity, and workforce longevity
  • Leadership development - how to truly inspire teams in a time of constant change

There was a clear theme throughout: the companies that win in the 2030s are making bold moves right now.

From Insight to Action

What made this meeting different was the shift from discussion to action. Attendees didn’t just learn, they left with ideas they could implement immediately. From integrating AI into daily operations to rethinking how teams are trained, engaged, and supported, the message was clear:  adaptability is no longer optional…it’s a competitive advantage.

Leaders also leaned into the human side of the equation. Inspiring teams, building trust, and creating a culture that embraces change were just as important as any new technology.

An Unified Industry Voice for the Future

A powerful moment came from Deidra Minerd, MTI 2026 President, of Euclid Heat Treating Company, who captured the spirit of the meeting:

“When we come together as an industry, we don’t just share ideas—we create momentum. Through innovation and collaboration, we are building a stronger, more prosperous future for every company represented here. The challenges ahead are real, but so is our ability to solve them…together.”

Her message reinforced what everyone in the room felt: the true power of MTI is not just in information, but in connection, collaboration, and collective progress.

Competition, Connection, and a Cause

Beyond the sessions, the connections made may prove just as valuable as the content delivered.

A highlight of the week was the MTI Educational Foundation Bowling Competition, where Members came together for a night of fun, friendly competition, and purpose. The event successfully raised funds to support the Foundation’s scholarship program, investing directly in the future workforce of the industry.

MTI Educational Foundation Chair, Doug Glenn from Heat Treat Today announced the Foundation is awarding a record $123,000 in scholarships in 2026.  Details can be found at www.MTIEducationalFoundation.com.

Each evening, networking events created the perfect environment to strengthen relationships, share ideas, and build partnerships that extend far beyond the meeting itself. In an industry where trust and collaboration matter, these moments are invaluable.

The Momentum Is Building

The excitement leaving Albuquerque wasn’t just about what was learned, it was about what’s next. There is a growing recognition across the membership:

The next four years will define the next twenty.

And that momentum is now shifting toward the industry’s biggest stage…
