The MTI Educational Foundation is excited to announce that the 2024 application process for scholarships is officially open for applications. The Foundation Board has approved a record 17 scholarships for a total of $80,000 for 2024.

The MTI Educational Foundation Scholarship Program is open to students who are interested in a career in metallurgy, materials science, engineering, industrial, and/or mechanical sciences. Applicants must be currently enrolled, or recently accepted, as a full- or part-time student in a nationally accredited college or technical school. Applicant’s area of study must be one of the following: materials science, metallurgy, engineering, or a technical certificate program with a focus in mechanical, electrical, or industrial sciences. Annual scholarships are paid directly to the student’s school tuition account or the lending institution of student loans.

Scholarships will be awarded by June 30, 2024.

Scholarship application submissions will be accepted through May 15, 2024. There are three scholarship levels available:

(1) $15,000 Founders Scholarship given in honor of the founding leaders of the MTI Educational Foundation, Wally Bamford from Can-Eng, Doug Peters from Peters Heat Treating, and Norm Graves from National Metal Processing. The Founders Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who, in the minds of the Foundation Board, represents qualifications and merit that exceed all other applicants.

(10) $5,000 Scholarships

(6) $2,500 Technical School Scholarships

The scholarship is renewable for one additional year, for a maximum of two (2) years. Scholarship renewal is not automatic - applicants MUST submit an additional full and timely application in order to be considered for a second scholarship.
