MTI Task Force Groups Working on NDA and Veteran’s Staffing

MTI’s Board of Trustees have been hard at work in 2017 under the leadership of President Tim Levy, with the appointment of two task force groups to work on a couple of key areas that will bring enhanced value to MTI members.

Non-Disclosure Agreement Task Force

As the business climate changes, more and more heat treaters are being asked to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDA) on a per project basis.  NDAs are a significant legal document.  Sign one with the wrong wording and you could give away rights to your intellectual property or processes.  NDAs also protect a heat treater when you have a new customer open up discussions on a new project, as well as employees who leave your company with all your IP stored in their head.  The NDA task force is working with a legal team to design some template documents, as well as a reference best practices guide on NDAs as follows:

  • Template NDA for you to use when anyone visits your plant to discuss doing business with your company.
  • Template NDA you should have every employee sign and have in their personnel file.
  • Reference guide of key phrases and terms to be aware of when you sign NDAs with your clients.

The task force feel these documents are important to protecting the way MTI members do business and will help insure members have strong documents to support their operations.  The task force is in the middle of the process and will be making recommendations for Board approval later this year.

Veteran’s Staffing Task Force

MTI’s leadership has come upon a couple of companies who specialize in matching up retiring military veterans with quality jobs in manufacturing.  With finding hard working, qualified staff being a huge challenge for any industry in manufacturing, MTI has put a task force together to explore potential partnerships with these groups to tap into the military for a new set of potential employees for MTI members.  This task force will be meeting throughout the summer to make any recommendations for Board approval in the Fall.

The power of MTI is:  members coming together to do things together, that they can’t do by themselves effectively.  MTI’s task force groups and committees are the path to helping drive value and innovation, so members can continually improve and compete in the fast changing economy.  Thanks to all those who are serving in some capacity.  We will report back on any developments in these task force groups.
