SPECIAL Report: Developments From Oct Nadcap Meeting

When:  Nov 2, 2021 from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM (ET)
The MTI Technical Standards Committee is presenting a special update coming out of the recent Nadcap Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA on Oct 18-20. The Committee's leadership will be sharing some recent developments on processes on the Nadcap checklist and the new area of fraud/ethical practices that if you do not understand, it could put your certification at risk. Your key quality team needs to tune in to hear details on the following:

1. Audittee Advisories - NMC has rolled out a new procedure on Audit Advisories such that if the supplier has a Major finding, there will automatically be an Audit Advisory issued and sent to all Nadcap Primes as Potential Product Impact. This is essentially a warning to all the Primes that there is a potential problem at the heat treater’s plant. By doing so, this could cause the Primes to audit the supplier, contact the supplier, or want to pull their work. This could have serious impact on the Heat Treater’s business. And These Audit Advisories, once issued, will remain on your eauditnet record even if the finding was removed or determined to not have potential product impact.

2. Fraudulent Activity - NMC is also pushing the responsibility of determining if there is any fraudulent activity going on at the Auditee’s location to the Auditor. There will be specific questions on the AC 7000 checklist regarding fraudulent activity. Once an Auditor “suspects” Fraudulent Activity has occurred, right now they will notify the PRI Ethics Committee who will investigate. If this activity is confirmed , an Advisory will go out to. All Primes. However we are hearing the new practice could be for an Advisory to go out to the Primes right away if the Auditor “suspects” Fraudulent Activity. This will cause the Primes to either audit the Supplier, contact the Supplier or stop doing business with the Supplier.

These Auditor Advisories and potential claim of fraudulent activity will paint the Supplier as a bad apple before he has "due process" to defend the allegations. We do not understand the need to send false alarms out to the Primes especially without investigation. Our concern is that these Audit Advisories will ruin the reputation of the Supplier which could have serious consequences on the Supplier’s business.
