Weather:  With 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, the greater Ft. Lauderdale area is guaranteed balmy breezes, tropical nights, and warm ocean water. Attendees can anticipate daytime temperatures in the low-to-mid 80's, and nighttime temperatures in the upper 60's (*F).

8:30 am - 8:40 am:  Welcome from MTI President, Jamie Jones

8:40 am - 9:55 am:  The Manufacturing Boom…Is it REALLY Coming?  - Ken Gronbach
 

Ken Gronbach will dispel some of the uncertainty many feel when hearing from economists, "we are in for another major downturn."  Ken will unpack the demographic shifts across the globe and U.S. that are going to drive certain industries to record growth in the next 15+ years.

10:15 am - 11:30 am:  Connecting the Dots of Quality, Specifications, and Your Bottom Line -  Panel Discussion Moderated by Bob Hill, President of Solar Atmospheres of Western PA

In this moderated panel discussion, Bob Hill will lead 3 expert panelists in discussions that will bring clarity to all the changes that will have taken place with 2759 / slash specs, AS 9100, CQI-9, and all other pending specs being reviewed by AMEC, Nadcap, and ASTM.  Half of the session will be the panelists giving their perspectives on the issues and the last half will be a Q & A from the audience.

11:30 am - Noon:  State of the Institute Update by MTI President, Jamie Jones

MTI President will provide an update on MTI's annual financial performance and key industry initiatives impacting your company.

9:00 am - 10:30 am: Spouse Guest Event 

One of the greatest elements of MTI meetings is how connected the spouses are. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with other MTI spouses. You will enjoy bloody marys, mimosas, and breakfast drinks over a light breakfast while meeting other spouses from all across North America.  

12:15 pm - 4:00 pm:  MTI Educational Foundation FundraiserDon't miss this exciting MTI Educational Foundation Fundraiser at Hollywood, Florida's iconic horse racing and entertainment venue, Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino.  After the opening day general session, buses will transport participating members to the venue where you will enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet, drinks, and 5 exciting horse racing events. 

Members will be in teams to select the winners of all 5 races.  The team with the most winners will be awarded a prize at the final night dinner.  All proceeds go to the benefit of scholarships from the MTI Educational Foundation.  Buses will you up outside hotel at 12:15 pm and bring member back at 3:15 pm.

Event Investment:  $100 (100% tax deductible as a charitable contribution.) 


Saturday, April 27

8:40 am - 10:00 am:  He Said, She Said... Heat Treating Edition

In this highly interactive session, Ben Crawford from Contour Hardening and Doug Glenn from Heat Treat Today will lead an open discussion on questions submitted by attendees prior to arriving.  Suppliers and heat treaters will sit on separate sides of the room as Ben and Doug ask questions to each side that everyone has always wanted to ask but were afraid to face-to-face. This is a lively session that always hits home on key issues.

One of the biggest challenges for any manufacturing company is creating a culture that fits today’s workplace and changing demographics.  This session with Jim Knight is a must see.  Jim draws from 20 years experience as Hard Rock International’s Culture Catalyst and Trainer.  It focuses on those individuals, departments, or companies who are charged with creating, maintaining, or revolutionizing an organizational culture. The session delves into every area of a company environment and then reveals realistic solutions for systemic change. Topics covered will include: Definition of Culture, Heritage vs. Culture, 3C Employees, Designing Cultural Collateral, Effective OnBoarding Processes, Virtuous vs. Vicious Cycles, Leadership Rock Stars, Employee Engagement, and Philanthropy. Attendees will also learn how comic books, Star Trek, and the spirit of Rock ‘n Roll can completely alter a company’s culture. Regardless of the company’s cultural history or status, this session will inspire those in attendance to take up the challenge of enhancing their organizational environment.
