The excitement is already brewing for MTI’s Fall Meeting in San Antonio, Texas on October 4-6. The momentum MTI experienced from launching its first live meeting in 18 months at the Spring Meeting was off the charts, and since the Spring meeting, members have been sharing that they can’t wait to get together again at the Fall Meeting.

The MTI Education Committee has designed another awesome line up of topics and speakers to hit at the heart of growing profits and productivity in every company.

First things first, you must take a moment to reserve your hotel room and register as soon as possible. MTI’s room blocks sell out almost every year, and we expect San Antonio to be no different.

Another exciting component to the Fall Meeting is our MTI Educational Foundation Fundraiser. The Foundation gave away another $42,000 in scholarships this month to nine young stars pursuing their education. The Foundation Fundraiser is holding a drawing at the Fall Meeting’s final night awards dinner to take home one of MTI’s famed bronze sculptures called, “Our Forefathers” (see picture).  Brand new, the sculpture is worth $5,000. The last time MTI hosted an auction for one of its bronze sculptures, the winning bid was for $7,000. The Foundation will be selling only 100 tickets, for $1,000 per ticket to get into the drawing, with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the MTI Educational Foundation. When you register for the Fall Meeting, you can tell MTI how many tickets you would like for the drawing. Help us meet our goal of $100,000 to drive scholarships in the heat treating industry!

Now for the content you have been waiting for! With the labor drought being so deep for all companies, MTI’s Education Committee has put a focus on having conversations on “How can we do business differently and get the work done?” With that in mind, the program of speakers is as follows over two days:

The Labor Drought… Where Did All the People Go?

Presented by Ron Hetrick, EMSI Data

Prior to COVID-19, there was already a shortage of labor in almost every industry. The pandemic magnified the labor drought and now it seems like labor is like a dry dessert with no oasis in sight. Ron Hetrick, Director of Staffing and Data at EMSI, is one of the leading experts on labor data. Ron will unpack the real issues causing the labor shortage, discuss the future outlook for labor, and share how every company needs to rethink "how to get work done." Ron will also moderate a panel of MTI members who are successfully breaking new ground with automation in their plant as a solution to the labor drought. This is a must-see opening session for any key executive.

How to Break the 2-Week Notice Curse

Mark Sedgely, Director of Revenue - Personify Inc.

One of the key elements during a new hire labor shortage is that you can't afford to lose any of your current talent…even average performers. It is an employee’s market, and it is important that every company has an amazing workplace culture to keep the talent you currently have. As talent leaves, those who are left could suffer from burnout, causing more challenges. A vibrant and team-oriented workplace culture is a must. Mark Sedgely, Director of Revenue at Personify, and former President of MemberClicks, will share with you the keys to building a workplace culture that can cure the 2-week notice curse.

Fireside Discussion Session on Top Industry Topics
Facilitated by MTI's Education Co-Chairs Glen Ottinger from Thermofusion and Deidra Minerd from Euclid Heat Treating

Within 30 days of the Fall Meeting, MTI will survey all meeting attendees on the top 3 industry topics they would like to hear discussed during MTI's famed round table discussions. Over 90 minutes, members will discuss at their tables the key topics individually, then Glen and Deidra will lead the full group in an open discussion. These discussions are generally the most talked about sessions at any MTI meeting because members are able to learn so much from each other.

- The primary motivator of all people
- The three things every leader can do to ensure leadership failure
