The MTI Educational Foundation is excited to announce that the 2021 application process for scholarships will open on January 15, 2021. The Foundation Board has approved 11 scholarships for a total of $51,000 for 2021.

The MTI Educational Foundation Scholarship Program is open to students who are interested in a career in metallurgy, materials science, engineering, industrial, and/or mechanical sciences. Applicants must be currently enrolled, or recently accepted, as a full- or part-time student in a nationally accredited college or technical school. Applicant’s area of study must be one of the following: materials science, metallurgy, engineering, or a technical certificate program with a focus in mechanical, electrical, or industrial sciences. Annual scholarships are awarded directly to the students.

Scholarships will be awarded by May 30, 2021 and paid in a single installment.

Scholarship application submissions will be accepted from January 15, 2021 to March 31, 2021. There are three scholarship levels available:

(1) $15,000 Founders Scholarship given in honor of the founding leaders of the MTI Educational Foundation, Doug Peters from Peters Heat Treating, and Norm Graves from National Metal Processing. The Founders Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who, in the minds of the Foundation Board, represents qualifications and merit that exceed all other applicants.

(6) $5,000 Scholarships

(4) $1,500 Technical School Scholarships

The scholarship is renewable for one additional year, for a maximum of two (2) years. Scholarship renewal is not automatic - applicants MUST submit an additional full and timely application in order to be considered for a second scholarship.

The 2021 scholarship process now includes a video requirement. Each applicant must submit a video, up to 3-minutes, explaining, “What is your understanding of heat treating and how does heat treating impact the industry you want to work in?”

To be considered for an MTI Educational Foundation Scholarship or if you know of anyone who should apply, visit or share www.MTIEducationalFoundation.com for full submission details and criteria.
