Jim Oakes Takes Gavel as 2020 MTI President

One area of strength for the Metal Treating Institute over the years has always been its line of leadership, and 2020 is no different.   At the final night awards dinner during MTI’s Fall Meeting in Vancouver, Canada, 2019 President Jamie Jones from Solar Atmospheres passed the gavel to Jim Oakes from Super Systems out of Cincinnati, OH.

With Super Systems being a member since 1998, Jim Oakes brings a wealth of knowledge, vision, and history to the table as President.  Jim is the fourth associate member to be President in MTI’s 87-year history.  Jim is a graduate of MTI’s famed YES Management Training Program and has been very active on the Board of Trustees since he was elected in 2011, serving on numerous committees including being Treasurer from 2016-2019.  Jim also recently completed his term as President of ASM International's Heat Treat Society.

 

MTI also announced the new slate of 2020 officers who will join Jim, as well as 3 newly elected Board Members for 3-year terms:
