Thursday, April 12
6:30 pm – 9:30 pm NAPA Valley Nights in San Francisco Reception & Dinner
Opening night is all about San Francisco and networking in the Palace Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel in San Francisco, California. The iconic Palace Hotel has remained the landmark hotel in San Francisco with such timeless creations as The Garden Court’s glass dome and the 1909 Maxfield Parrish mural of “The Pied Piper of Hamlin” located in the Pied Piper Bar. Enjoy signature drinks and cuisine of San Francisco as the energy of the opening night allows you to see old friends and meet new ones.
Friday, April 13
8:15 am—9:15 am Maximizing Your Energy Through Efficiency and How You Buy
This incredible panel session combines the knowledge and talents of an associate supplier, two commercial heat treatmembers and MTI’s official energy supplier. Each one will share their perspective on how to maximize your energy strategy through a combination of enhanced equipment and operational efficiencies and how and when to buy energy. You will also hear the perspective of heat treaters who have sound strategies on energy that allows them to focus on their customer, not the gas index. At the conclusion of their presentations, the panel will have an open discussion with questions from members.
9:15 am — 10:15 am How Social Media Can Help You Maximize Your Exposure
For years now, everyone has heard the buzz of social media. One thing is for sure, it’s not a fad. It’s a communication and marketing standard that is here to stay. Learning how you can tap into the possibilities is vital to the future of any small business. During this session, you will learn what social media can mean for your business, how it can give you a competitive advantage and how you can capitalize on it to reach your customer base.
10:30 am – 11:30 am ITAR…. Ignorance Will Not Get You Out of $1,000,000 Fine
Heat treaters doing business that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) take a great financial risk if they are not aware of detailed specs associated with ITAR compliance. Penalties can range in the millions of dollars for violations, and ignorance is no excuse to an enforcement officer. This session is going to be worth its weight in gold with expert Greg Suchan from Commonwealth Consulting providing you the information you need to fully understand ITAR, how to comply and what can happen if you do not.
11:30 am – Noon MTI Spring Membership Meeting
The last few years, MTI has been getting more involved in a host of industry issues and projects. Get the inside scoop as President Buster Crossley from Texas Heat Treating and other committee chairs share the exciting developments of each of these projects.
1:00 pm – 6:00 pm MTI Scramble Golf Invitational
Every member is invited to participate in MTI’s Annual Golf Tournament. Being a team scramble, its perfect for any handicap… even a 48. This year will again include MTI’s new wacky strategy rules of free throws, strings, mulligans and yes, the colored ball. Get IN IT to WIN IT in 2012. This is a fun and exciting networking event for anyone who participates.
6:30 pm—7:30 pm Cocktail Reception
Night two is all about the freedom to see San Francisco, California. You are invited to come and enjoy and hour of cocktails as you discuss with other members where you want to venture off to in downtown San Francisco.
Saturday, April 14
8:15 am—9:45 am Don’t Let Water Treatment, Cooling and Disposal Drown Your Profits
One of the top issues in member surveys was how to deal with water treatment, cooling and disposal. Do you eliminate water all together? This session, moderated by our own Brian Russell from Dry Coolers and SBS Corporation will dig deep into the issues surrounding your water management strategy. You will also hear from a panel of heat treaters and furnace manufacturers as they share their perspectives on how they are dealing with water as a user and supplier.
10:00 am—11:30 am How to Turn Around Turnover and Motivate and Retain the Best Employees
This informative and entertain session will address the critical issues of employee recruiting, managing today’s workforce, and the everyday challenges of surviving and thriving in today’s workplace including managing stress in the workplace. Nationally known speaker, Bob Losyc will provide real strategic solutions to the road blocks for success that plague so many of today’s corporations and small businesses. Bob will give you the solutions you need to solve your most vital performance and productivity challenges.
6:30 pm – 11:00 pm California Reception, Dinner and Entertainment
After enjoying two full days of educational sessions and seeing San Francisco, enjoy an exciting night of drinks and food sharing your favorite lessons learned and memories created during the 2012 Spring Meeting. The evening will be topped off by your favorite tunes where you can choose to bond with other members or hit the dance floor.
